During the presentation stage, students are prepared to share their knowledge with an audience. According to Kuhlthau (2004), students have arrived at "a new understanding of the problem" as this stage is the "culmination of the inquiry process" (pgs. 166, 20). (See Humbolt State University's chart for more information)
Benefits:
Students usually feel satisfied with their work and with web 2.0 technologies, there is great opportunity to share their work with a global audience. Students could have opportunities to express their learning in unique ways, drawing on their creativity and personal style to express themselves in addition to, or in lieu of, a traditional paper (check out the Web 2.0 tools below for some of these options).
Pitfalls:
Organization and time are important aspects to consider during this stage. Some students may feel disappointment, Kuhlthau (2004) explains, if "their work has not met their expectations." Though, such thoughts could provide relevant feedback and reflection in the next stage.
Important Concepts:
Summary Search: A summary search occurs when students are getting ready to share their learning. The "purpose is to recheck information for anything missing or that may have been overlooked" (p. 84).
